On February 21, 2025 Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the RACAS Foundation participated in a working session convened to review and validate the draft guidelines for the coordination of widows' welfare, organized by the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups. The session brought together key stakeholders committed to strengthening the legal and institutional framework that governs the rights and protection of widows in Tanzania.
The draft guidelines was designed to ensure that widows are fully accorded their rights particularly in areas of inheritance and land ownership and to eliminate harmful cultural practices that continue to marginalize and economically disempower widowed women. The guidelines envisioned as a practical tool to guide government agencies and traditional leaders in resolving family disputes in a just, equitable, and rights-based manner.
RACAS Foundation reaffirms its commitment to advocating for the rights of women and vulnerable groups, and looks forward to supporting the implementation of these guidelines as part of its broader mission to promote gender equality, justice, and community empowerment across Tanzania.
We are proud to work with these amazing organizations
