The year's most significant milestone was the official launch of the Women's Economic Empowerment through Sustainable Poultry Farming Project branded Empower Her Poultry. The launch on 5th February 2026 in Bunju marked the culmination of extensive groundwork undertaken throughout 2025, implemented by RACAS Foundation in partnership with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TiKA).
Bunju is a rapidly expanding peri-urban area in Dar es Salaam with an estimated population of over 130,000 people. Rapid urbanisation has created serious socioeconomic challenges, particularly for low-income households. The average Tanzanian consumes approximately 48 eggs per year far below recommended nutritional standards contributing to malnutrition, anaemia among women, and poor cognitive development in children. RACAS Foundation developed this project as a practical, scalable, and sustainable response.
🎯 Train 500 women (30 per month) in poultry management, feed preparation, and disease prevention between 2025 and 2027.
🎯 Build women's capacity in agribusiness management and financial planning.
🎯 Establish modern poultry infrastructure: incubators, feed grinding systems, cold chain equipment, and distribution vehicle.
🎯 Increase household access to affordable, protein-rich eggs and poultry products.
🎯 Strengthen women's leadership and create a replicable model for women-led agriculture across Tanzania.
