On May 26, 2025, the RACAS Foundation had the opportunity to participate in a working visit aimed at strengthening the Children's Council (Baraza la Watoto) at Mianzini Primary School, located in Makulumla Ward, Ubungo Municipal Council. The visit was conducted in collaboration with the Ubungo Municipal Council's Children's Desk Coordinator and the CSRI Organization.
The visit brought together key stakeholders, including government representatives and civil society organizations, to engage in meaningful dialogue on how best to establish strong child protection and safety systems within school environments. Central to the discussions was the establishment and strengthening of Children's Councils as a sustainable mechanism through which children's rights can be upheld, and challenges affecting children both at school and at home can be identified and addressed in a structured and supportive manner, ultimately enabling children to learn and grow in a safe, peaceful, and conducive environment.
During the training session, students were given the opportunity to:
✔️ Learn about their rights and understand what they are entitled to as children.
✔️ Build confidence and leadership skills to enable them to speak up and take initiative
✔️ Freely discuss the challenges they face in their daily lives at school and at home
✔️ Lay the foundation for meaningful participation in decisions that directly affect their lives and well-being.
RACAS Foundation remains committed to equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to express themselves freely, safely, and effectively ensuring that no child is left unheard.
We are proud to work with these amazing organizations
